Bury Council - Conference Secretary

Location: 3 Knowsley Place, Duke Street, Bury, BL9 0EJ.

Contract: Initial 6-month contract with possible extension.

Hours: Full Time – Monday to Friday – 8:45am to 5:00pm.

Payrate: £10.41 an Hour

Description:

As a Conference Secretary in Bury Children’s Services, you’ll be part of team that works across functionality.

The business support service provides a fully comprehensive support service for the Social Work teams, Early Help and Education non-school based teams.

It is anticipated that the role will be a mixture of office and home-based working.

The successful candidate must be highly committed team member, resilient, adaptable, positive and a solution focused person who shares our ethos, cares about children and young people.

Will have excellent IT, communication and organisational skills and enjoys working in a busy and varied environment.

They will have the ability to prioritise tasks and able to work to deadlines, whilst maintaining a professional approach and work with different stakeholders.

Experience of working in admin roles and minute taking is preferable.

You will need to be numerate, literate, punctual and pro-active.

The first 2 weeks will be based in the office for training and then the role will be a mixture of home working and office based.

Role Responsibilities

To provide high-quality business support as required, including word processing and production of presentation materials as required.

To assist operational staff in their daily tasks, e.g. dealing with telephone calls, taking messages and providing information to callers as appropriate whilst maintaining high levels of confidentiality.

To assist with the maintenance of the electronic diary for the booking of conferences/meetings/rooms within the team locations.

To work as a member of the team including cover arrangements whilst maintaining appropriate levels of service.

Undertake identified training as appropriate including mandatory training.  Participate in monitoring and reviewing processes to ensure they remain relevant and up to date together with reporting any identified faults within systems. 

Provide ‘on the job’ training support to new members of staff.

To support and assist with any additional tasks, e.g. Subject Access Requests etc, which may be assigned and appropriate to the grade.
