Job Details

Operations Manager required on a contract basis to join an industry leading engineering and manufacturing business.

Do you have a background strategically controlling the production / manufacturing operations? Have you got experience of leading, developing and improving EHS, Quality, Production, Supply Chain, Planning and Maintenance? If you are seeking an exciting technical challenge then this is the role for you!

Key responsibilities:

Responsible for all plant engineering functions including manufacturing engineering, process engineering, tooling, facility and equipment maintenance.
Leads and drives activities related to continuous improvement (e.g., cycle times, scrap, quality, industrial cost reduction, etc)
Reviews and establishes contingencies / justifications for Capital Appropriation Requests, department budgets, and personnel salary plans.
Develops plans for process improvement and will have specific areas of accountability in its execution.
Provides support on new product launches and tooling, providing the manufacturing input for development of new process and improvements to existing processes and tooling.
Ensures new tools and processes ,from launch team, are ready for production and delivers smooth execution in operations.
Directs all engineering and maintenance functions in the plant, assigns responsibilities and ensures compliance to KPI's.
Develops personnel in technical execution, planning, and decision making to positively impact business financials.
Draws up annual Ops. & Capex Budgets as per the performance targets set by Upper Management
Delivers satisfactory operational results in line with the Budget
Additional Responsibilities:Experience required:

Proven experience in Manufacturing plants, OEM or Tier1
Previously participated in prototype builds or launch events.
Experience managing a team of engineers and technicians in a fast paced environment.
Must be able and willing to travel and work at customer sites
Superior problem solving and decision-making ability.
Mechanical Aptitude for problem solving.
Proven ability to effectively lead a team and drive operational improvements.
Safety at Workplace above all and at all times, promoting "Zero Accident" concept
Manages TQM with a results-driven approach throughout the facility in line with the Customer and IATF 16949 requirements.
Strong operational technical knowledge and problem-solving skills
Six Sigma Green Belt / Black Belt Certification (desired)
Familiar with World Class Manufacturing, Lean Six Sigma, or a variety of the operation in regards to Lean Manufacturing concepts, practices and applications such as 5S, TPM, SMED, HOSHIN, PDA, Value Mapping, etc…
Leads and directs the work of Supervisors, Team Leaders, production line staff, and others.
Demonstrates strong continuous process improvement capabilities
Demonstrates knowledge in Automation, Hydraulic and Pneumatic Systems as well as artificial intelligence, and machine learning
Experience in Supply Chain Management
Strong computer skills (Google Suite, Excel, Windows, Powerpoint, SAP, and ERP Systems)
Bachelors Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering or proven progressive experience in a similar role.
