Ecctis Limited is the global leader in skills assessment and credential evaluation and provides official UK national agency services on behalf of the UK Government in qualifications, skills, and migration. We help make sense of international qualifications and support a range of clients including individuals, universities, and colleges, awarding bodies and government ministries.

The role:

We are looking to employ an experienced Data Architect on a fixed-term, 12-month contract, to build, optimize and maintain conceptual and logical database models. The key focus of the role will be to rebuild and restructure existing databases to enhance data quality and flexibility to facilitate the creation of new products (e.g. APIs) as well as improving existing products.

For this role, you should know how to analyse system requirements and implement migration methods for existing data. Hands-on experience with Transact-SQL is also required. Ideally, you are familiar with predictive analysis and data visualization techniques using relevant tools (e.g. Tableau, D3.js Power BI, and/or R.)

Ultimately, you will develop database solutions to ensure company information is stored effectively and securely.

Data Architect responsibilities

  • Developing database solutions to store and retrieve company information whilst futureproofing to facilitate the implementation of new solutions (e.g. APIs)
  • Installing and configuring information systems to ensure functionality
  • Analysing structural requirements for new software and applications
  • Develop database solutions to store and retrieve company information

  • Migrate data from legacy systems to new solutions
  • Design conceptual and logical data models and flowcharts
  • Improve system performance by conducting tests, troubleshooting, and integrating new elements
  • Optimize new and current database systems
  • Define security and backup procedures
  • Coordinate with the IT and Research and Data teams to identify future needs and requirements
  • Provide operational support for Management Information Systems (MIS)

Requirements

  • Proven work experience as a Data Architect, Data Scientist, Data Analyst, or similar role
  • In-depth understanding of the principles of database structures
  • Experience gathering and analysing system requirements
  • Knowledge of data mining and segmentation techniques
  • Data analysis, Entity modelling and Normalisation
  • Expertise in Transact-SQL
  • Proficiency in MS Excel
  • Familiarity with data visualization tools (e.g. Tableau, D3.js and R)
  • Proven analytical skills
  • Problem-solving attitude
  • A UK degree in Computer Science or relevant field

Office Location:       Cheltenham, Gloucestershire, UK

Benefits:       25 days annual leave plus bank holidays

Company Pension scheme (the Company will match employee contributions up to a maximum of 6% of basic salary in the first year. Then the scheme becomes non-contributory with employer contributions of 10% leading to 20% based on years’ service)
