Location Yatton, Somerset

Duration 3 Months contract (renewable)

Pay Rate £15.60 PAYE // £20.33 Umbrella

Hours 37 hours 8am - 4p, 8am - 1pm Friday

Primary Purpose:

1. Action and expedite MRP buying messages with sense of urgency.

2. Monitor and improve supplier KPI's.

3. Help Procurement Manager to implement Procurement vision 2020.

4. Operational focused role with strategic inclination.

Key Responsibilities

Place orders with the approved suppliers, using the following criteria:
Mirror MRP demand while balancing cost break points with inventory targets.
Obtain best possible lead time, quality and price.
Use designated client key suppliers whenever possible.
Progress shortages daily and ensure information is available for Production meetings.
Ensure Open order reports are actioned each week and MRP system is updated.
Hold regular meetings with key Suppliers to review KPIs (OTD, Cost, Inventory, Quality targets).
Other tasks expected to be carried out; including but not restricted to: solving Invoice queries, managing Return to Vendor stock, FAI's, Cost updates, lead time reviews, Service stocks and spot purchases.
Work in accordance with company, ISO procedures and Procurement processes.
Execute Procurement processes ECO's, SCAR's, Purchase Requisitions etc.
Develop commodity strategy for assigned commodities at the basic level for improvements.
Carry out any other tasks that may be reasonably requested by the Company.

Professional Skills/ Abilities:

CIPS Foundation stage (or working towards).* Able to build effective relationships. Excellent stakeholder engagement skills.

* Good PC skills including Microsoft Excel.

* MRP skills (ideally JDE, SAP or Oracle).

* Mechanical Engineering experience of any type.

* Ability to read mechanical engineering drawings.

* Data analysis skills.

* Clear and concise communicator.

* A track record of purchasing components in an engineering / production environment driven by challenging deadlines and managing the changes to ensure quality and delivery objectives are achieved.

And, ideally:

* Familiar with a low volume, high value manufacturing environment.

* An understanding of the vacuum component industry and its standards would be an advantage
