Garment Technologist- Full Time

Overview

Garment Technologist

Reporting structure

Scope

Outdoor clothing, footwear and accessories for both men and women

Reports to

The Production Manager and Head of Design.

Relationships

Working with colleagues (across all business levels)
Regular contact with overseas suppliers.

Overseas travel may be required.

Responsibilities

Assisting in the development and production of multi product categories will include :

Development :

· Working directly with the design team to originate spec's based on CAD ranges across multi-product categories.

· Analyse samples and establish desired fit by leading regular fit sessions.

· Effectively communicate with overseas factories on fit and construction requirements across development and production samples.

· Create graded spec's once required fit has been established.

· Ensure final specs are as required, any changes which may impact cost/ delivery or design are communicated to the relevant teams / persons.

· Set up and maintain basic blocks - to ensure consistency is maintained across all product areas to business required standards.

Production:

· Approving all care labels, test and QC reports ensuring company standards are met.

· Coordinating QC with the production manager for bulk deliveries.

· Monitoring all complaints including fit, identifying common / recurring faults, and taking appropriate action.

· Maintain clear records of all procedures with documentation of the products history.

· Working with the heads of department to ensure the company's critical path maintains on track for development and production.

Performance measures

· Deadlines are achieved and problems solved or escalated

· Samples & product arrives as specified and on time

Skills

· A degree in fashion and/or a minimum of 3-5 years in the industry in the relevant field.

· Excellent knowledge and understanding of fabric, garment fit and pattern cutting.

· Multi product/ apparel background.

· Excellent working knowledge of Adobe Illustrator and Microsoft office.

· Good understanding of garment construction and cost implications of amending fit.

· Understanding and knowledge of industry specific testing and compliance standards.

· Willing and able to monitor and progress chase factories for samples and production. (CP management)

· Hands on factory experience.
