An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Global Communications Manager to join our client, a leading global FMCG company with Brands such as Dove, Knorr, Persil & Magnum, based at Blackfriars in London (Currently working remotely from home but must be able to travel to site if required). This is a full-time temporary role for a period of 12 months, working a 36.25-hour week, to start ASAP. This role is paying between £60,000k - £70,000k, pro rata per annum, depending on experience.

Purpose of the Role:

To be a trusted advisor and business partner to the R&D Leadership Team and wider R&D team on scientific, technology and impactful innovation communications able to take complex information and turn this into key pieces of storytelling across our channels - leading our communications idea creation and execution against the R&D communications plan
To act as a conductor across the R&D function to build the reputation of R&D and its input into the relevant categories/capabilities/ by storytelling (externally and internally)
Support with change communications and embedding into the R&D functions new ways of working alongside our digital transformation agenda and programmes
To forge strong relationships with Category Comms, Supply Chain Comms, Media Relations, Sustainable Business and other relevant functions to collaborate on the continuous development and implementation of communications.

Main Accountabilities:

Trusted Advisor

You will act as trusted Business Partner to the R&D Leadership Team (RDLT); driving excellence in all communications, both internal and external, ensuring excellence in landing key messages across the global R&D Function
You will be supporting the activation of an annual communications plan for R&D, which delivers against the top business priorities, the R&D 2021 Strategic FrameworkConductor

You will be the 'spider-in-the-web' for collecting any type of required information, mainly to showcase the science and technology that makes U/L's innovations so appealing. You will be end-accountable for the quality of R&D communications
You will be first point of contact for the global R&D community to review requests for external engagement, ensuring that any type of external engagement fits with the overall key (communication) priorities.Networker

You will build and utilise an extensive network of contacts across R&D, Cat Comms and other relevant Comms teams, and leverage these relationships to be the trusted advisor to the RDLT and to deliver compelling stories about U/L's innovations, science & technology

Key Skills:

Able to provide strategic planning and to act as trusted Business Partner/advisor. Has influence skills and as result is good in managing senior stakeholders
Has good business acumen and understands how to communicate in today's ever-changing world
Has an ability to understand complex business, science & technology topics and then to translate these into compelling and easy-to-understand stories (tailored to various audiences)
Has an all-round working knowledge of the various disciplines of communications such as media relations, social media, issues management and employee engagement
Is a real team player. Keeps a balance between personal accountability and delivery through teamwork
Has a Bias for Action, shows accountability and responsibility and has a 'can do' attitude
Is culturally sensitive and has resilience
Has a desire for flawless execution in both written and creative work

Relevant Experience:

Essential:

A minimum of 5 years experience in leadership and communications, preferably in a Business-to-Consumer environment
Experience of sitting on and working as a member of a senior leadership team
Track record in storytelling and needs to have experience with both internal and external communications
Clear understanding of the requirements and demands of an international roleDesirable:

Understanding of U/L's (matrix) structure and the implications involved in this
Has worked in a PR/Comms environment or otherwise has worked within a 'branded' environment
Change management experience
