Overview:

My Biotechnology client is currently looking for a Category Manager with a high level of professionalism and strong communication skills.

Ideally the CM will have come from a background of portfolio or category management and have experience working with international suppliers.

The role:

This position will have a heavy focus on the implementation of strategies that are already in place and contribute to the management of a category or categories of products, including the management of key suppliers. To be clear this position will not entail the sourcing or procurement element.

They work in collaboration with the European Category Management Team to ensure correct supplier/product positioning, pricing and promotions are used to drive revenue growth. Key suppliers will be managed through regular supplier engagement and business reviews to secure appropriate supplier engagement and support.

Key Responsibilities

Develop and execute of a European category, portfolio and product strategies for the group of products and suppliers they manage, through the commercial teams, marketing campaigns and activities.
Ensure alignment with global Category Management Strategy.
Manage portfolio expansion, product margin optimization, supplier funding negotiation, support growth initiatives and develop customer segment strategies.
Develop and manage select Key suppliers' performance through the Supplier Tiering Program and leading and presenting regular business reviews with supplier Senior Leadership.
Ensure maximum engagement of the suppliers in supporting the sales growth, strategy deployment and improving customer experience.
Track and analyze the strategy deployment through revenue growth, profitability and share gain in the defined territory.
Define corrective action and implement to ensure the Annual Operating Plan (AOP) is met or exceeded.
Demonstrate a thorough understanding of the portfolio and regulatory requirements, the breadth of brands and competitors, and the range of requirements demanded by our customers and feedback to Category Management Team.
Develop an internal and external network of senior professionals and data sources to provide market intelligence across the European and Emerging Markets, provide commentary, escalations to the Director, Portfolio Management.
Lead corrective actions to enabling dynamic and quick reaction in the strategy.
Responsible for the day-to-day management of the category and key suppliers, maintaining strong commercially effective senior business relations within the key supplier's leadership.
Develop and maintain the required connections between our internal functions and our suppliers.
Deep analysis of monthly sales data to gain understanding of market dynamics, develop corrective actions and lead key supplier quarterly business reviews. Complete month reporting tasks.
Ad hoc requests from Category Leadership or personally identify new Growth Initiatives, Margin Expansion Opportunities, Practical Process Improvement projects and programmes that support the categories AOP, financial, operational and customer experience initiatives.
Problem-solve product/supplier support request coming from internal stakeholders.
Support Key Supplier activities with the yearly price roll, including communication with suppliers to ensure on time, data submission, review of data quality, problem solving, price positioning across the category and negotiation on price to ensure financial targets are met.
Establish strong cross functional relationships (business, sales and marketing leaders).
Develop a Fisherbrand strategy for the Category, including identification and specification of Portfolio Expansion opportunities.
Co-ordination with Sourcing Team on RFQ, selection and supplier negotiations. Aligning Marketing, Commercial Communications and Supply Chain Stakeholders to ensure successful launch and roll
Partner with the Customer Segment Marketing Manager on Marketing Campaigns that will drive revenue growth and product pull through.Minimum Requirements / Qualifications / Competencies

Bachelor's degree in business, operations, or a scientific field is desired. An advanced degree in business or science is preferred.
4+ in a commercial or portfolio management role.
Excellent computer skill
