Meridian are currently recruiting for a well-respected, progressive and market leading Technology based company based in Wellington. The company is seeking a Two IT Support Technicians to join their team to assist with a server migration project.   
 
The company installs their software on their customers’ own physical or virtual machines dedicated to printing and processing documents. Following Microsoft ceasing support for Windows Server 2008, they are assisting commercial customers who are currently on Server 2008 machines with migrating to more up-to-date operating systems. In order achieve this, they are looking to hire two Server Migration Technicians on a temporary basis for a minimum of 4 months and potentially up to 6. Full Training will be given on the migration process.

Role Duties and requirements:

Taking full ownership of the entire migration process, from initial customer contact through to completion of migration switchover
Assist customers with installing our software and responding to technical queries
Configuring the server to accept our suite of bespoke software
Working efficiently to ensure the team collectively deliver its targets for completing server migrations to deadline
Proactively contact customers to schedule dates and time to start migrations and action key stages of the process
Taking ownership for migrations from initial contact until switchover, supporting the customer during and after the switchover until their old server can be decommissioned.
Understanding customer requirements from a specification and ensuring the information they have provided for the server is accurate and meets our minimum requirements
Organising the migration into stages and delivering these efficiently and to deadline
Run scripts and programs to transfer data between servers, ensure our software applications are installed and the new server is correctly configured to facilitate a seamless transition
Liaise with customer IT contacts to troubleshoot server issues and facilitate end-to-end user printer testing
Reporting on progress of migrations
Identifying, investigating, and escalating issues
Collaborating with other team members to share knowledge and help each other overcome issues 
Role Requirements

Demonstrable experience with Windows Server operating systems
Demonstrate the ability to troubleshoot server and installation issues directly with customer IT, or equivalent IT support experience
An ability to Quickly assimilate and retain new information
Be open-minded and always be ready to adapt to new challenges
Thrive in a procedural driven environment
Strong customer communication and interpersonal skills
Be trusted to proactively prioritise, control and organise your own workload while following up on customer communications so that multiple migrations are managed appropriately
