Sunfield provides innovative and experiential education, developed out of the inspiration of Rudolf Steiner, William Morris and John Ruskin and supports young people (6 – 19 years) with complex learning needs, including Autistic Spectrum Conditions, developmental delay, chromosomal disorders, visual impairment, sensory integration impairment, and PDA. On-site resources include a state-of-the-art sensory integration suite, craft workshops (including pottery, woodwork, and wool work), a biodynamic farm and garden, woodlands, and family accommodation. Our children and young people are supported in addition to our education staff by resident carers, healthcare professionals, land and craft tutors, and an onsite psychology and therapy team.
We are looking for an Occupational Therapist, with training in Sensory Integration, to develop an occupational therapy service embedded within Ruskin Mill’s unique method of Practical Skills Therapeutic Education (PSTE) and Rudolf Steiner’s approach to human development as interventions to meet the students’ sensory and self-regulation needs as identified in the EHC plan.
Prospective candidates must hold appropriate professional qualifications. Candidates must be able to demonstrate substantial experience of working with students with SEND and complex behavioural needs, care, and health needs. Training in our method, Practical Skills Therapeutic Education (PSTE), will be provided, but ideally the post holder would have knowledge of or be open to Steiner principles of holistic and experiential education and therapeutic care.
Although challenging, working at Sunfield is incredibly rewarding and in return we offer competitive salaries. In addition, staff receive:
- A comprehensive induction and extensive training and development plan which includes (but not limited to) safeguarding, CALM training, Prevent, autism, epilepsy, medication, MCA, DoLs, equality & diversity and People policy training
- 33 - 38 days annual leave (including bank holidays) increased based on length of service
- Free car parking facilities on site and free lunches.
- Discounted health care cash plan with BHSF
- Free employee assistance programme (EAP) with access to 24-hour counselling services for personal and work related subjects and website
