PMLD Lead based in Gobowen, Oswestry, Shropshire offering an annual salary of £35,000 - £37,500.

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a PMLD Lead to join our Clinical & Therapy Services. You will provide lead, manage and develop our day provision for young people with Profound and Multiple Learning disabilities and/or difficulties.

The key responsibilities of the PMLD Lead:

  • To lead a small team of staff supporting young people with profound and multiple learning difficulties, providing both direction and support to enable the young person to be as independent as they can be
  • To be part of a multidisciplinary team assessment process, to clearly identify the therapeutic needs of the young person and ensure that these needs are being met
  • To monitor key aspects of quality assurance and governance to ensure that the service delivered is of high quality in line with person-centred care, CQC regulations, Ofsted and best practice guidance 
  • To work in collaboration with the service team to develop a person-centred curriculum
  • To support the development of clear aims and objectives to enable the young person to meet their individual aspirations and outcomes
  • To ensure accessibility to suitable assistive technology based on the young person’s needs
  • Support and embed a total communication approach across the provision
  • To work collaboratively with external service providers to ensure the young person needs are being met and they are progressing towards positive transition
  • To lead on review meetings with the young person and/or their advocates, families and the team to come up with individual support plans that focus on outcomes and ensure a high quality standard of support is delivered

The ideal PMLD Lead:

  • Recognised specialist qualification such as Occupational Therapy or relevant PMLD qualification
  • Experience of service development and evaluation
  • Extensive experience working with children/young people with profound and complex with learning disabilities and physical disabilities, ideally in a learning environment
  • Ability to demonstrate and advise staff in the use of a wide range of communication approaches
  • Experience of managing and leading a team
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with ability to build strong links with internal and external networks
  • Excellent organisational skills, accuracy, attention to detail and ability to prioritise workload & multi task
  • Ability to work as part of the multidisciplinary team
  • Highly self-motivated individual with ability to work on own initiative
