Location: Walsall
Salary: £26,773 - £31,037 per annum
Job Type: Full Time, Fixed Term (12 Months)
Closing Date: 28th February 2021
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated and positive practitioner to join The Council's Youth Justice Service as a Crime Prevention Worker on a fixed term basis for a period of 12 months.
The Role:
The Youth Justice Service is a multi-agency partnership service established under S.37 of the Crime and Disorder Act with the principle aims of reducing offending and re-offending of young people.
They work with children and young people on the periphery of the youth justice system to prevent them from becoming first time entrants, with those young people involved with the Police and receiving out of court disposals, and young people convicted in Court.
They work with young people in the secure estate on remand and sentenced to custody and are responsible for the resettlement of young people back into the community. The YJS also oversees services to victims of youth crime, including restorative justice interventions.
What they're looking for:
They're looking for candidates who are dedicated, positive and passionate about improving outcomes for children and young people involved in the youth justice system in Walsall.
The right person will join the Crime Prevention Team to undertake assessments and complete plans and interventions with young people subject to Police disposals such as Youth Cautions. You'll be part of a close-knit restorative team and will work closely with other practitioners within the Youth Justice Team and partners, including the Police.
Candidates must have a relevant level 4 qualification or equivalent, have experience of working with children and young people and a good understanding of child development and risk management.
They're proud to be pushing for better outcomes for young people and families in Walsall and share the WR4C 'Walsall Right for Children' vision. They hope you can join them in this journey.
