Job Details

My client, a local authority based in Shropshire is looking for an Environmental Health Team Manager - Food Safety to join their team. This is a full time, temporary ongoing agency contract and the successful candidate must have a Degree/Diploma in Environmental health, registration with the EHRB, experience with Food Safety/Hygiene inspections and ideally extensive experience managing teams in local authority/public sector roles.

The main purpose of the role is to lead Food Safety & Standards, Feed Hygiene, Health & Safety and Animal Health to cover a planned long term sickness.

The main responsibilities of the role are as follows;

Responsible to the Regulatory Services Operations Manager who is in turn responsible for the post holder's health and safety, training and development.
Responsible and accountable for 16 members of staff, acting in a supervisory/managerial capacity, monitoring performance, supporting development and undertaking annual appraisals.
Take personal responsibility and be directly accountable for the performance and use of resources of a clearly defined service area which supports the delivery of key outcomes for local people achieved by building an effective team.
Manage the delivery of key aspects of and support the development of operational action plans and a programme of projects across the functional area relevant to the post in order to deliver improved Regulatory Services outcomes.
Acting as a lead specialist and contribute to cross-cutting agendas including local and neighbourhood plans, in order to protect health and wellbeing, vulnerable people, the wider community and the environment.
Leading and co-ordinating technical leads in the specific areas of food hygiene, feed safety, food standards and animal health to deliver the regulatory programmes.
Support other managers in the development and delivery of a programme of regulatory and enforcement projects and activities to identify and reduce risks to residents and businesses in order to achieve Regulatory Services outcomes

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate the following competencies/attributes;

Degree/Diploma in Environmental Health
Full EHRB registration
High levels of expertise in Public Health understanding and competence
Experience of research into specialist technical areas of Food Safety and Standards, Infectious Diseases, Health & Safety and Animal Health.
Significant demonstrable experience in a technical or professional role.

The client is looking to move quickly with appointing to this position and as such, are offering £300 - £400 p/day Umbrella Ltd depending on experience/qualifications (approx. £920 - £1,175 NET p/week after deductions) for the duration of the role.
