PMLD Teacher required for a Shrewsbury based SEND setting

Would you consider yourself to be an innovative, highly motivated and inspirational PMLD Teacher?

Do you have experience teaching children with learning difficulties, physical and mobility difficulties?

Are you confident at using Makaton signing as a primary form of communication for PMLD students?

The most suitable PMLD Teacher will work at the setting that cater to children from reception to sixth form with special educational needs who are based in Shropshire who have range of learning difficulties, physical and mobility difficulties and some pupils who require personal care. A number of the young people present behavioural difficulties arising from their condition; many have communication difficulties and use Makaton signing as their primary form of communication.

The main purpose of the PMLD Teacher post is to provide exciting and highly engaging quality teaching which delivers an appropriate curriculum that meets the needs of each pupil in accordance with the aims of the SEND setting. This will involve ongoing and close liaison with parents/carers, colleagues and other professionals and the management of a class team.

The PMLD Teacher will be expected to:

Set high expectations which inspire, motivate and challenge pupils
Promote good progress and outcomes by pupils
Demonstrate good subject and curriculum knowledge
Plan and teach well-structured lessons
Adapt teaching to respond to the strengths and needs of all pupils
Make accurate and productive use of assessment
Manage behaviour effectively to ensure a good and safe learning environment
Fulfil wider professional responsibilities
The PMLD Teacher will have:

Bachelor’s degree
Qualified Teacher Status (Newly Qualified Teachers welcome to apply)
PMLD experience
Ability to build good relationships with children, teachers and parents
Ability to cope with challenging behaviour
Encourage engagement and inclusion

*Interviews for the PMLD Teacher role will take place in January 2021 to start in February 2021 on a temp to perm, full time basis.*
