Job Details

Are you looking for a fantastic opportunity for a role that is a bit different? If you have experience in building bikes for customer specifications, then we would love to hear from you. This role will progress to a permanent position after working for 12 weeks.

We would also welcome anybody with a passion for building bicycles or if you have been recently left without work due to the pandemic. It would be ideal for anybody with a mechanical background or the ability to build and maintain things and full training will be provided.

Staffline is recruiting for a Bike Mechanic to work at our client's leading sports retail Distribution Centre in Bilston.

You will be conducting Pre-Delivery Inspections (PDI) of bicycles, which will include building the bikes and checking the quality and safety.

The rate of pay is £10.32 per hour and you will be required to work Monday to Friday 8am to 4pm initially.

As the role progresses, it may move to early and afternoon shifts as well as potential weekend work. Therefore, you will be willing to be flexible to meet the demands of the business.

Your Time at Work

As a Bike Mechanic, you will set up the configuration of high-quality bikes before dispatch in a busy warehouse environment. The workspace is state-of-the-art and set out to fully comply with social distancing measures.

You will have your own workstation, fully equipped with the tools to complete the build and checks effectively. You will also have access to a bike lift to reduce the amount of repetitive manual handling.

You will be monitoring and assessing the quality of completed bikes using quality checklists.
Compliance with all Health and Safety regulations and the completion of regular housekeeping duties are also required in this role.

Our Perfect Worker

Our ideal Bike Mechanic will possess Cytech Qualification Level 2 or above, or similar industry-recognised qualification (e.g. IMI or Velotech).

You will demonstrate a positive can-do attitude, be methodical and have excellent attention to detail.

You will also:

- Have proven working experience and the ability to clearly demonstrate a solid understanding of the Pre-Delivery Inspection (PDI) process, as well as the ability to spot bike flaws
- Have at least 6 months experience in a workshop environment
- Be able to follow specific instruction for individual bikes, ensuring build quality and safety standards are fully met
- Have knowledge of Warehouse Management Systems and Live- Apps in relation to order processes

However, we are open to people new to the industry if they have transferrable skills or a detailed interest in bike building. You will be required to demonstrate the ability to assemble bikes effectively, but full training will be provided.
