We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Scientific Officer to join our successful team in a busy Laboratory, on a temporary 6-month contract, with earnings starting at £17,500 per annum.  

At Future Health Biobank we are passionate about protecting the future health of children, which is why we concentrate our company in two main areas; stem cell banking and diagnostics.  

We are the largest stem cell bank in the UK, having stored more samples than all other UK banks combined and have been established for over 14 years. We fully believe in the value of these services, as well as their present and future possibilities. We offer core services for stem cell banking; umbilical cord and dental pulp.

We currently have a vacancy for a temporary Scientific Officer to join our Laboratory team based on the Nottingham Science & Technology Park.  Hours of work will be 37.5hrs which will include weekends and evening work.

Immediate start is essential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Laboratory testing;
  • Undertaking sampling;
  • Inputting of sensitive sample data;
  • Ensuring good housekeeping standards within Laboratory areas;
  • Understanding and adhering to the Quality Systems and Controls in place;

Key Skills:

  • Ideally suited to either a newly qualified or recently qualified Science graduate;
  • High attention to detail is essential, as is the ability to adapt in a fast paced environment;
  • Being able to work as part of an extremely busy team, as well as using own initiative with regards to problem solving;
  • Willingness to learn;
  • Adherence to robust aseptic procedures due to a cleanroom environment;
  • Adherence to strict guidelines and policies as this is a highly regulated setting;
  • PCR experience would be beneficial but is not essential.
  • Genuine interest in science and lab based activities;
  • Previous experience of working within a laboratory environment would be beneficial although full training will be given;

Terms & Benefits:

  • 37.5 hours per week; 
  • Starting salary of £17,500 per annum;
  • 23 days holiday pro rata (excluding bank holidays)
  • Contributory Company Pension Scheme;
