Senior Software Engineer
Eastbourne
£40,000 to £42,000 (Ranging depending on experience)
Our client, a long-established company based in Eastbourne. Due to growth they are looking for a Senior Software Development Engineers to join the team.
Software is a key component in the majority of their products and world class quality is paramount to success in the marketplace.
This role will be suited to a Senior Software Engineer who has maintain PC tools and web-enabled applications to support a product range. The successful candidate will require a strong knowledge of C#/.NET and general application development
The company are a successful manufacturing brand trading globally with many sites around the world. Due to growth at the Eastbourne site they can offer the successful candidates long term job security and potential for longer term career progression for those who desire it.
The role in brief:
To develop customer deliverable, PC-based tools to monitor and support the products.
Modifying and maintaining existing software to accommodate new customer requirements, and existing change requests.
Providing technical support to service personnel and customer enquiries from the field.
The person required:
A good software/computing BSc or BEng degree preferred, but an equivalent first degree in an engineering discipline would be acceptable.
IEE (Institute of Electrical Engineers) or BCS (British Computer Society) member preferred.
Microsoft development qualifications would be an advantage.
Good communication skillsSkills required:
Microsoft .NET application development, specifically C# and ASP.NET, XUnit, using Visual Studio 2019 development tools.
Experience and knowledge of network and serial data communications (e.g. TCP/IP & RS232/485)
Windows application development using .NET Windows Forms, and WPF, windows services
Inter-component communications (e.g. WCF, Web API (REST), MQTT and Web Sockets)
SQL development, specifically SQLite and relational database design using Microsoft SQL Server 2016
Full software life-cycle awareness and Agile development (SCRUM)
Source control (ideally using SVN)Desirable Skills & Experiences
Virtual Server exposure, including Windows Hyper-V, vSphere/VMWare, OpenBox
Build processes including Team City
Data queuing/streaming technologies (e.g. Kafka, RabbitMQ, MSMQ, MQTT)
Web development using .NET, ASP.NET, HTML5, CSS, JavaScript, AJAX, JQuery, Knockout, Razor/MVC5 and Web Forms
Exposure to other database technology, including InfluxDB, SQLLite, MongoDB, MySQL, Postgres, Hadoop,
Experience of working in a manufacturing and/or electronics environment
Industrial serial comms protocols - Modbus I/O communication
