Salary: Grade 4 £27,042- £31,346 per annum

Permanent Contract, Full Time

Location: Service Headquarters, Calcot, Reading

The role of Accounts Officer is a great opportunity to work for a Public Service provider. As part of the Finance team, you will be reporting to the Exchequer and Systems Manager. The Accounts Officer is a vital member of the Finance function at RBFRS and it is perfect for someone who has completed their professional AAT qualification and would like to gain more experience within Accountancy. The ideal candidate will have good report writing skills and can contribute to continuous improvements within the department.

The successful candidate will be inspired to demonstrate and promote behaviours in line with the Job Profile and our Behaviour Competency Framework as attached here. Specifically we are seeking individuals who will provide excellent customer satisfaction to all the RBFRS’s customers, resolve enquires quickly, courteously and with good attention to detail.

The key focus of this role is:

  • To provide an efficient and effective provision of a comprehensive finance payments function, including all aspects of ledger maintenance, control and reporting, in accordance with statutory requirements and the RBFRS’s policies and procedures.
  • Maintaining accurate data files on the Creditors Payment Systems, processing and inputting all payments.
  • Responsibility for the sales invoice process and an effective accounts receivable function.
  • Ensuring compliance with agreed procedures for employee expense claims, RBFRS’s banking transactions and procurement card administration

Key role requirements (knowledge, skills and experience):

  • Excellent communication skills and ability to liaise with a range of stakeholders
  • Good knowledge of accounting systems, accounts payable and receivable processes, BACS procedures and VAT.
  • Practical Experience in working with accounting systems with a high volume of transactions
  • Competent with Microsoft Excel, Word, Access and Outlook
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritise workload
