Senior Highways Engineer

A Local Authority based in South Wales are looking for a senior Engineer to join their Highways Structures team.
This is a full time, temporary role and the ideal candidate will hold a Degree in Civil Engineering or HND with extensive and relevant experience.

The purpose of the role is to assist in providing and apply engineering skills and knowledge to work undertaken in the Structures Section of the Engineering Projects Group. Assist in the management of the Structures Section with ongoing responsibility for technical guidance, progress, budget and financial control and Efficient and effective use of resources.

The main responsibilities for the role:

Identify engineering problems and define possible solutions and selection of appropriate techniques, procedures and methods in the field of structures.
Help maintain the County Boroughs Highway Structures records through a programme of inspections and surveys and implementation of associated maintenance works.
Undertake the design, contract preparation, procurement and supervision of structures improvements, maintenance and other miscellaneous engineering design services.

Required Qualifications and experience:

Degree in Civil Engineering or HND with commensurate experience.
Full membership of a relevant chartered professional body would be desirable.

Knowledge of technical design standards/manuals, codes of practice and related to the design of highway structures.
Knowledge and understanding of computer aided design programmes and their application to include software such as Superstress, Autocad, CADS, Scale, TEDDS and standard software packages such as Microsoft Office Suite.

The client is looking to move quickly with this role and as such are offering between £20 & £23 p/hour Umbrella Ltd (approx. £510/£570 p/week NET after deductions) dependant on experience and qualifications.
