Job purpose:

The Depot Transport Manager will be responsible for the Compliant and Efficient management of the Deport transport operation and the improvement of driver standards. The role will also be responsible for ensuring full compliance for vehicles and drivers, the reporting and management of accidents and the management of vehicle PO logs, meeting agreed Transport/Fleet targets.

About the Role:

Because of the growth over the last six years and the growth we are currently experiencing we are further developing our Depot Management team with a Transport Manager in each of our Depots, reporting in to our Depot General Manager.

You will be working with our driver teams to develop the team into a high performing transport operation. As a key name on the depot O’License you will manage the safety of our operation, the legal & regulatory compliance of your transport operation with policy and process excellence at the core of your initiatives. Working as a senior in the Depot Management team you will align with colleagues in the Depot Management team to ensure the overall building outperforms expectations for our Clients and our Customers alike.

You will be responsible for managing your team of Drivers and ensure your Transport Supervisors are fully informed, skilled and motivated to lead the resource on their shift. You will produce sound baseline plans and regularly adjust them to reflect both the changing demand and to drive efficiencies

Responsibilities:

Ensuring the safety of our Driving team when inside the depot, driving or when on site with our Customers.
To be fully accountable to ensure that the sites are legally compliant at all times this will include servicing & maintenance, driver's hours, tacho downloads both driver and vehicle unit along with all training - drivers CPC, MHE and manual handling.
Maintaining records in line with legal and regulatory requirements.
Ensuring that all relevant documentation and systems are completed accurately and in line with company and/or legislative requirements
Creating and maintaining a high performing culture within the Driver network
Achieving operational KPI’s and service expectations consistently during changing seasons and fluctuating demand including Service, Cost, Productivity, Transport, Health and Safety and People metrics.
Ensure that operational procedures and general housekeeping are kept to a high standard
Defining the exact requirements of the operation, reviewing these regularly with relevant stakeholders to produce the optimum workable solution to achieve cost and service metrics.
Creating a core team of Drivers and Supervisory staff with sufficient skills and depth to scale up to meet increases in demand and to support the introduction of flexible resource as required.Experience/Qualifications:

National CPC License holder
PC literate in programmes such as Microsoft Office
Desirable Qualification: International CPC licence holder
Experience in legislative compliance
Experience in a Transport Operation
System knowledge of fleet systems, Isotrack, Tachomaster, etc.
To be Financially astute in order to drive cost saving efficiencies and initiatives
Be able to influence internal and external 3rd parties
Some Technical knowledge of HGV, LGV
