Job Details

Service Care Solutions are looking for an Investigating Officer to work on a major contract with a local Police Force, based in Abbey Wood.

Description:

To plan, co-ordinate and conduct investigations into suspected cartel activity in collaboration with Assistant Director Investigators, Principal Investigation Officers and Senior Investigation Officers. To assist, where appropriate, with applications to the High Court for search warrants. To assist with on-site investigations using formal powers.
To comply with statutory duties and procedural requirements in all investigatory activity. To analyse, assess and present to the team leaders, the evidence gathered in the course of an investigation identifying whether it is sufficient to proceed and to assist the team leader, as appropriate, in drafting appropriate documentation. Other tasks may be required to be undertaken from time to time commensurate with a investigator post.

Skills:
SC Clearance minimum, must be in date
Must be an accredited detective investigator
Up to date knowledge Criminal Procedure and Investigations Act Code of Practice, Police and Criminal Evidence Act, Proceeds of Crime Act.
Must be able to plan, co-ordinate and conduct investigations into suspected criminal activity in collaboration with Detective Sergeant and Detective Inspector and Senior Investigation Officers.
To assist, where appropriate, with applications for search warrants.
To assist with on-site investigations using formal powers.
To comply with statutory duties and procedural requirements in all investigatory activity. To analyse, assess and present to the team leaders, the evidence gathered in the course of an investigation identifying whether it is sufficient to proceed and to assist the team leader, as appropriate, in drafting appropriate documentation.
As a member of an investigation team the post holder will be responsible for - the recording, investigation and detection of crime allocated to them under the supervision of the Detective Sergeant.
The retrieval, collation and-analysis of evidence.
Providing written and oral briefings.
Advising victims on basic crime prevention measures.
Interviewing victims and witnesses resulting in the recording of witness statements. Applying for and executing search warrants.
Seizing crime property, documenting and securing as evidence.
Carrying out the detention and interviews of suspected offenders.
Preparing the submission of files to the Crown Prosecution Service, attending and giving evidence at Court. Liaising with in house Witness Care staff.
Instigating the use of powers provided under the Proceeds of Crime Act, to allow subsequent financial restraints and confiscations by an allocated Financial Investigator.
Contributing to the investigative workloads undertaken by other team members.
Liaising with other Law Enforcement Agencies and investigative partners.
Preparing internal reports to Service Authorities and MOD Civilian Management if appropriate. Attending at case conferences with legal representatives.
Applicants will have/have held an accreditation as a detective investigating officer.
A background in investigating high value and complex Fraud, Bribery and Corruption is desirable.
Other tasks may be required to be undertaken from time to time commensurate with an investigator post. Must possess a full current UK car manual Driving Licence.

Security Clearance: must hold SC

University qualifications will not be taken into account for this position.
