Food Production Shift Manager Nights
 
Are you an experienced Shift Manager with a proven track record in people management?  Experienced in working within FMCG environment? Thrive in working in a fast pace manufacturing operation? We are looking for an experienced Shift Manager to join our production team to focus on development and performance of our production and people operation. This role is based at our advance manufacturing facility in Telford.
We are a leading supplier of Poultry products into an impressive range of customers in the UK retail and food service sectors. With ambitious plans for the future, there hasn’t been a more exciting time to join us.

Purpose of the role
The Shift Manager will effectively manage all operations within the specified sections to ensure KPi’s targets and business objectives are met. You will liaise with relevant internal departments to ensure the product is produced, loaded and dispatched in accordance with the ‘Production Plan’. You will take full responsibility to ensure the adherence to Food Standards legislation throughout the production process.
 
Your key responsibilities will include:
• Implementation of new strategies with the support of senior management
• Supervise quality of product and ensure non-conformances are dealt with in accordance with company policy in a timely and efficient timescale.
• Implement and review continuous improvement initiatives to minimize downtime.
• Ensure that accurate and detailed records are logged shared with site management team in accordance with site ‘hand-over’ procedure.
• Ensure operations are conducted in compliance with customer specifications, whilst meeting cost, quality, productivity and H&S Targets.
• Ensure consistency in the application of the companies disciplinary, grievance and absence procedures
• Ensure appraisals and reviews are carried out with staff
• Continually look to develop staff within the section to ensure that staff are fully utilizing their skills
• Develop and review good working practices, SOP’s and SWP’s in accordance to Avara’s policies
• Ensure compliance with the companies Equal Opportunity Policy, Recruitment and Development and the Management of Employees
• Coach and develop staff to improve individual and section performance
• Ensure the appropriate delegation of tasks within the section
• Ensure that the staffing levels are within the establishment and that resource is effectively utilized
• Actively promote a customer focused environment
 
What we are looking for:
• Generalist management experience across broad range of disciplines involved in people management
• Excellent communicator with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels
• Pro-active in piloting new initiatives and procedures to improve service and productivity
• Takes a customer centred approach to work, and uses customer specifications and company standards to measure quality of product
• Attention to detail
• Analytical skills
• Ability to make clear assessments and appropriate decisions
• Ability to build successful working relationships with internal and external contacts
• Excellent time management skills
It is advantageous but not essential to relevant knowledge of Food Standards Act and relevant Health & Safety alongside qualifications in Health & Safety and Food Hygiene. Knowledge of Continuous Improvement and the Lean Principles is desirable.
