Do you have experience working with young people with severe emotional behavioural difficulties?

An SEMH TA / Social Emotional Mental Health Teaching Assistant is required for supply cover in a behavioural school in Shrewsbury.

The special needs provision caters for students aged between 11 - 16, who will usually have an Education, Health and Care Plan / EHC Plan, as well as those under the care of the Local Authority. The post requires a talented SEMH TA / Social Emotional Mental Health teaching assistant who is flexible, enthusiastic and dedicated to supporting children with educational needs to join their team of dedicated staff.

 You must be able to engage with the students, gain their trust and help them to develop essential skills for life beyond education. The students are vulnerable and will need that little bit extra support.

The provision has an excellent reputation and is a great place to work; the staff are welcoming, friendly and supportive of one another.

The role will include:

Assisting the teacher with classroom preparation
1:1 work with students who require additional support
Leading group work
Helping the class teacher with pupil observations
