Manchester City Council – Assistant Support Worker
Location: Manchester, M40 8ND
Contract: Initial Contract to 29/01/2021 With possible extension
Hours: Full time (37hrs)
Payrate: £9.51 - £10.95 an Hour
Key Role Descriptors:
The role holder will work as part of the Supported Accommodation team to providing support to learning disabled adults living in ordinary houses in the community either on a permanent basis or with the Short Breaks service.
The role holder will assist support workers to provide practical and emotional support to customers that will promote independence and will assist and support other involved parties, to ensure positive outcomes for all customers.
Key Role Accountabilities:
Assist in providing person centred high quality support to individuals who may have complex needs and may display behaviours that challenge the service to maintain and develop daily living skills,
enable full participation in a range of activities and assist and support customers to access appropriate community services. Ensure all physical, emotional, social, cultural and religious needs are met.
Assist in providing support and personal assistance to customers who may have a profound physical disability to develop and maintain their independence,
whilst effectively managing any associated risks and reporting signs of injury, illness, suspected abuse to the appropriate member of the team.
Provide practical and personal support to individuals to maintain high levels of hygiene including personal and intimate care.
Promote equal opportunities in the workplace and deliver services which are accessible and appropriate to the diverse needs of customers in line with the Social Model of Disability.
Respond to the health and social care needs of customers by providing relevant services that promote their independence health and wellbeing including diet, exercise and health Action Plans
Support the customers to ensure high levels of cleanliness in residential or assessment settings.
Establish and maintain appropriate relationships with parents, families, and carers and friends of customers.
Maintain customer records, monitoring information .and when appropriate share relevant information with colleagues.
Proactively participate in new initiatives and future changes in service delivery.
