Description
As the Finance Manager based from Farnborough, Hampshire you will be responsible for:
Financial management and reporting
Preparation of business and departmental budgets, cash-flow reports and re-forecasts
Preparation of monthly management accounts including variance reports.
Control of balance sheet reconciliations.
Calculation of accruals and prepayments for monthly and year-end accounts and
posting month end journals.
Lead the year-end accounting process.
Ensure the robustness of the financial systems and that income and expenditure is accurately recorded and working capital is effectively managed.
Provide the business with appropriate financial information, advice and assistance to support decision making processes.
Ensure the cash position is regularly reviewed and bank reconciliations are completed on a monthly basis.
Development and maintenance of efficient financial systems and controls
Develop and administer the financial systems.
Lead on system enhancements, for example, upgrades and new features.
Maintain and develop the nominal accounting structure (chart of accounts).
Design and maintain systems of internal control including the maintenance and production of financial regulations and procedures.
Provide advice and support for staff on financial processes and systems.
Accounting
Oversee the monthly and year-end payroll (include pensions) in conjunction with the external payroll bureau. To reconcile pay costs to budget.
Maintain the Fixed Asset Register and calculate depreciation in line with accounting policy.
Manage the process of the collection of debt.
Refer debts for collection by the external debt collection agency.
Maintain the Deposits Database.
Leadership and management.
Leadership of the finance team.
Manage and develop the staff within the finance department, ensuring the team's performance, skills and experience meets the requirements of the College.
Undertake performance reviews of the team, agreeing personal objectives and
targets.
Investigate and promote ways of improving efficiency of the office
Profile
Part qualified accountant, ACA, ACCA or CIMA. Qualified by experience will also be considered
Management and financial accounting
Financial planning
Setting/adhering to financial controls
Setting budgets
Strong IT skills, in particular, Excel and financial modelling and database skills.
To be meticulous in attention to detail.
To be well organised and have good time management skills. Ability to prioritise.
Effective leadership.
Able to work quickly and effectively in a busy office with a high volume of transactions.
Excellent interpersonal, communication and written skills.
Able to work with a high level of initiative.Job Offer
