For almost a century, Harold Sharp has been supporting growing businesses and family firms with accountancy, tax and business consultancy services.  We follow a simple principle laid down by our founders: “It’s not about keeping up. It’s about staying ahead”.

This is a unique opportunity to join a small but busy tax advisory practice. The role will enable the successful candidate to 'get stuck in' to all aspects of tax advisory and tax planning from day one, with full supervision from the Tax Partner.

The successful candidate will also be involved with helping the Tax Partner to shape and develop the tax practice itself, with supervised input to marketing, networking, quality control, budgeting and recruitment.

It is, of course, essential that all services provided by the firm are conducted to the highest standards in the context of a sound risk-managed approach.

The successful candidate will maintain great communication and relationships with co-workers in coordinating client services and ensuring the firm’s service to the client is seamless.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • To personally undertake tax advisory work, under full review and supervision by the Tax Partner, involving planning within the full “lifecycle” of owners and their businesses, including (but not limited to) ownership structures, extraction planning, reorganisations, share schemes, acquisitions, advice on sales, successions and buy-outs, capital gains tax planning, R&D tax relief, property structures and advice, tax-advantaged investment and estate and inheritance tax management.
  • To build and maintain strong relationships with clients in our portfolio and with contacts who provide work opportunities.
  • To respond promptly and enthusiastically to enquiries and ad hoc queries arising.
  • To communicate and coordinate with clients, to manage expectations, meet deadlines and enhance trust and reputation for the tax advisory business.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • CTA qualified (or ATT and working towards CTA qualification)
  • IACA / ACCA qualified / part qualified (AAT 3 or above) (desirable)
  • Ideally experienced with tax advisory work.
  • Tax knowledge demonstrating awareness of tax planning aspects and objectives.
  • Sound academic record with evidence of good numeracy and literacy.

KEY SKILLS:

  • Good communication skills.
  • Customer and business focused – an understanding of customer needs and concerns.
  • “Can do” attitude
  • Balanced and measured approach.
  • Well organised and capable of meeting deadlines and working under pressure.
  • Attention to detail
  • Accounting IT skills
  • Good relationship builder with other departments in the firm.
  • Integrity
  • Commercial approach

We have a great team culture with a strong, proactive, work ethic. Everyone here has a part to play, the successful candidate must be prepared to support the team to provide the best service to our valued clients.

At Harold Sharp we have some great benefits and have created a friendly working environment. If you’re a Tax Advisor or with the experience and skill set as outlined above, we would like to hear from you.
