To translate this strategy into action, the Technical teams across the UK have been integrated into a new combined organisation; this will provide them with a forward looking and strong Technical function needed to drive innovation, efficiency and quality benefits across the organisation as a Global business.

Role purpose
Support and also lead specific process development projects and to support the implementation of new products, manufacturing & technology change and CBR for the factory.
Support and also lead continuous improvement initiatives which deliver sustained improvements in process consistency, efficiency and consumer satisfaction.
Maintain the day-to-day administrative requirements for the team including data capture/input/analysis and provide support for the Process Development manager.

Effective and timely delivery of CBR, NPD are critical to transforming the competitive position. Equally importantly, the company must be able to manufacture its existing portfolio consistently to the highest levels of quality and efficiency in order to achieve the sustained consumer satisfaction and low cost base that are needed to deliver truly sustainable profitable growth.

The geographical expansion to supply growing markets around the world means that skills, know-how and products must all be leveraged across our Global business in order to successfully develop and maintain competitive advantage. In addition, the transfer of production from one factory/plant to another and the successful implementation of new production/packaging facilities are vital to be able to support the capacity and flexibility requirements of our manufacturing base.

As part of the new strategy implementation, the Process Development Team will play a fundamental part. Reporting to the Lead Process Development Manager, the Process Development Technologist is a key role within the Process Development Team, which will provide strong focus and support on delivering technical excellence through the practical application of process technologies and manufacturing know. The role will play an important part in supporting the technical capabilities of site based Technical team and other functions at the site, to help drive the move towards world class manufacturing standards in plaids.

This factory based role in Aintree and Carlisle demands sound skills and experience in process technologies in a manufacturing process, ensuring that rapid, accurate and appropriate decisions are made concerning changes to process technology and operating methods in site-based operations, product transfers, and technical risk. In addition to strong Technical know-how, the adoption and application of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma principles and sound project management will be key to achieve the required purpose of the role.

The role requires the ability to work successfully as part of a team (or independently) to deliver robust successful results, to manage projects/deliver objectives and provide support to the site teams.

Key Outputs
Support, lead and implement specific process development initiatives to deliver the introduction of NPD (design) and Value Improvement within the Process Development Team, ensuring all projects meet time, cost and quality constraints.

Provide 'hands-on' process technical support to continuous improvement initiatives at the site; both day to day issues and longer term initiatives, ensuring the root causes are made visible and appropriate interventions to prevent recurrence are captured in standard operating procedures.

Identifies opportunities for continuous process improvements for processes and supports work for justifications of capital investment. Implements process innovations to manufacturing process technology developed in partnership with central technical teams, to keep the site at the leading edge of industry developments.
Executes effective and efficient planning, management and reporting of all factory trials relating to VI, NPD, Procurement, and Continuous Improvement initiatives for process led work.
Applies Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma tools, techniques and principles to drive Technical excellence across all site operations, including the continuous improvement of performance and finished product quality. Ensure compliance to the Change Protocol procedure.Supports the implementation of a programme of improvement and standardisation to plant methods, technology and practices necessary to enhance and harmonise the standards of site Process Development.
Ensures compliance with Health and Safety care of substances hazardous to health (COSSH), Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) and product specifications at all times during trials.
Develops process and product specifications for the site's product range in line with the plant's actual capability and ensures is available and completed for all product changes and launches.
Other key activities include :*Attendance and team representation at project meetings or otherwise.
Maintenance of key documentation for the Process Development Team.
Supporting and running factory trials, report writing.
Data capture, data input, data analysis.
