Our client based in Shrewsbury is looking for an enthusiastic individual to undertake a range of food hygiene and health & safety interventions in Shropshire. The candidate will have the necessary relevant qualifications to undertake this type of work which will predominantly focus on inspection of low, medium and high-risk premises.

The post will be based in Shirehall, Shrewsbury but travel around the county will be required and a full driving licence will be required. In return we offer flexible and agile working to allow a good work-life balance.

This is a temporary role with an immediate start available for the successful applicant. Paying £15.36 per hour.

Duties:

* Deliver operational action plans and projects in food hygiene and health and safety in order to raise standards of compliance and deliver improved regulatory outcomes.

* Support the development and delivery of a programme of regulatory and enforcement projects and activities in food hygiene and health & safety to identify and reduce risks to residents and businesses in order to achieve Regulatory Services outcomes.

* Utilise a range of regulatory approaches in food hygiene and health & safety, including: Evidence-based research, risk assessment, intelligence-led targeting in order to identify and investigate business activities or environmental practices which present a significant risk to the health, safety, prosperity and wellbeing of the wider community.

* Undertake comprehensive and professional research and analysis in food hygiene and health & safety to provide businesses with high quality, accurate and timely advice on the implementation of legislation and standards in operation.

* Plan and undertake investigations in food hygiene and health & safety in accordance with the Enforcement Policy and support the collection and preparation of evidence to ensure that enforcement cases meet the very highest legal and professional standards and achieve successful outcomes.

* Utilise appropriate regulatory techniques in food hygiene and health & safety to successfully achieve regulatory outcomes in the most effective and efficient way.

* Contribute to the delivery of cross-cutting agendas including community safety and health and wellbeing in order to protect vulnerable people and the wider community.

* Utilise problem solving, negotiation and mediation to resolve issues and complaints in food hygiene and health & safety for activities reported by residents, businesses, partner agencies and services

* Prepare, present and make recommendations and appear as a witness in prosecutions or in other judicial or enforcement processes in food hygiene and health & safety.

* Undertake the audit and assessment of business processes across food hygiene and health & safety and make appropriate recommendations for change and improvement.

* Support other Regulatory Services Officers across the food hygiene and health & safety and related support activities.

Requirements:

* Educated to diploma/degree level or equivalent in Environmental Health or other professional qualifications or other relevant training or experience which gives an equivalent level of competence across a wide range of Regulatory Services functional areas

* Certification of registration with the Environmental Health Registration Board (EHRB)
