Mechanical Design Engineer

 

Mechanical Design Engineer required for a well-established manufacturer of production line equipment and automated equipment. In support of continual growth, the Mechanical Design Engineer will be joining a professional and effective design team, and will play a hands-on role in the product development.

The successful Mechanical Design Engineer will have a proven background within Mechanical Design ideally with production line equipment as well as metal fabrication. However, a background of various Mechanical Design will also be considered.

Mechanical Design Engineer Position Overview

The key objective and responsibilities of this position is to assist with the design and development of production line equipment, special purpose machinery and tooling. This will include design, modelling and analysis of new components and machines as well as refinements to existing products. Other duties and responsibilities will include:

Overseeing the development of products from conceptual drawing stage right through to design for manufacture.
Creating drawings via 3D CAD of equipment to customer specifications.
Producing Bill of Materials.
Liaising closely with other members of the design and manufacture team. This may also include suppliers. Assist in request for quotations by providing cost estimations.
Working on making improvements and adjustments to existing systems-identifying potential faults that may cause breakdowns and rectifying them.
Working in direct relation to clients on specifications. Travel to client sites for meetings and overseeing of installations where necessary. Travel is occasional with most visits within the UK and some abroad.

Mechanical Design Engineer Position Requirements

The successful candidate will be degree qualified or equivalent in a Mechanical Design field of study.
It is envisaged that the successful candidate will have completed a year-in-industry placement or have at least 2 years of experience in Mechanical Design.
Previous experience with production line machinery or mechanical components would be advantageous but not essential.
Proficient with 3D CAD Software, ideally Solidworks. Other 3D CAD use is acceptable and abilities with 2D CAD would be an additional advantage.
A Full UK Driving License.

Mechanical Design Engineer Position Remuneration

Starting Salary: £25,000 - £30,000 (Dependent upon Experience)
