Marketing and Communications Manager, Voluntary Organisation based in the National Office in West Haddon, circa £29,000 to £31,000 per annum dependent on experience.

The Company:

We are a voluntary organisation and charity that supports farmers and farming families through difficult times. Our aim is to be the first port of call for pastoral and practical support for all those in need in the agricultural community.

The role of the national office is to facilitate the vital work done by volunteers based all over the country. Our national office is responsible for ensuring that we operate in a legally compliant and professional manner and with due care of clients, volunteers and staff whilst being adequately funded and promoted, thereby ensuring that we are available wherever and whenever our support is needed in the farming community.

We are now looking for a Marketing and Communications Manager to join our team based in our National Office, managing the Organisation and associated brands, representing the Organisation attending meetings, events and giving presentations both locally and nationally. This role requires the applicant to work closely with the CEO, National Partnership Manager and other members of the team and volunteers. This is a full time, permanent position working 35 hours per week.

Marking and Communications Manager Main Duties:

  • Managing the creation and production of the Organisation’s promotional activities across all marketing channels.
  • Managing all digital media and scheduling regular posts, ensuring that the Organisation creates and maintains a prominent presence on social media and that local group social media output is consistent with national strategy and standards.
  • Managing the updating of the Organisation’s website and intranet.
  • Liaising with journalists and the media to generate relevant new stories.
  • Responding to media and stakeholders requests for information or comments, both written and verbal.
  • Managing the Organisation’s presence at national events and supporting local groups with their media activity, and their regional events.
  • Managing printed media and the Organisation’s advertising in the agricultural press.
  • Creating and producing the Charity’s supporter newsletter and volunteer e-newsletters.
  • Liaising with the National Partnerships Manager to ensure that all partnerships and fundraising campaigns are adequately promoted.
  • Keeping the Organisation’s staff and volunteers appraised of the latest “breaking news” in agriculture.
  • Keeping up to date with the latest farming issues to enable the Organisation to respond promptly in an appropriate manner.
  • Writing compelling stories to illustrate the context value of the Organisation’s work, within the confines of client confidentiality.
  • Liaising with other Farming Help charities on matters relating to publicity.
  • Undertaking any other additional duties that may, from time to time, be required.

Marking and Communications Manager Necessary Skills, Qualifications and Experience:

  • Previous experience in a similar role.
  • Previous experience working with a charity organisation would be desirable.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • Previous experience managing integrated social/print media campaigns.
  • Computer literate, including a thorough understand of the Microsoft Office Suite and publishing and design software.
  • Ability to compose engaging text with a high standard of grammar and spelling, and ability to proofread with great accuracy.
  • Good attention to detail for graphic design and layout to create maximum visual impact.
  • An understanding and interest in the farming community and farming matters, and the challenges they face.
  • Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines.
  • Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team.
