Admin Assistant, GP Surgery based in Southam, salary £8.72 per hour.

The Company:

We are an NHS GP Practice that opened in 2001 and consistently have very high satisfaction rates in all our surveys, both local and national. We are rated outstanding by the Care Quality Commission.

We are now looking for an Admin Assistant to join our busy Practice to ensure administrative and clerical duties within the Practice are carried out effectively and efficiently in line with guidelines and policies.

This is a full time, permanent position, working 37 hours per week. Hours of work are 9.00am to 5.00pm Monday to Friday with half an hour lunch each day.

Admin Assistant Main Duties:

  • Typing and processing patient clinical referrals, ensuring they are sent to the most appropriate specialist team.
  • Communicating with hospitals and other healthcare providers to ensure completeness of patient records.
  • Processing insurance claims and requests for copies of medical records.
  • Ensuring timely receipt and processing of patient paper notes.
  • Daily monitoring of registrations database, actioning any amendments or deductions appropriately.
  • Raising invoices for Private services.
  • Processing incoming post and emails, including scanning and work flowing of clinical documents.
  • Taking and distribution of meeting minutes.
  • General and clinical filing.
  • Providing cover for colleagues during periods of annual leave and sickness, adopting a flexible approach to working.
  • Attending team and whole-practice meetings and completing mandatory and required training in a timely manner.
  • Undertaking any other additional duties that may, from time to time, be required.

Admin Assistant Necessary Skills, Qualifications and Experience:

  • Previous experience in an Admin role is necessary.
  • Previous experience working within a GP practice or other healthcare environment is desirable.
  • Audio typing skills are essential.
  • Good standard of numeracy and literacy.
  • Computer literate, including the Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, verbal and written, including on the telephone.
  • Excellent level of customer service skills.
  • Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team.
  • Reliable and able to work under pressure.
  • Sound understanding of the need for professional confidentiality.
  • Knowledge of EMIS Web clinical computer system is desirable.
