Job Details
Ruskin Mill Trust provides students with holistic learning by role modelling positive relationships in the fields of arts, crafts, commerce, agriculture, nutrition, living skills and the environment. Working with young people aged 16-25 years with complex behaviour, and learning difficulties and disabilities, including autistic spectrum conditions, whose needs cannot be met in mainstream settings.
Using the insights of Rudolf Steiner, John Ruskin and William Morris, Ruskin Mill Trust works with hand, head, heart and place to provide students with the tools to transform material through craft activities, and in doing so transform themselves.
Functional Skills/GCSE Tutor
40 hours per week, 40 weeks per year
PRO RATA FULL TIME EQUIVALENT £20,029 – £29,990 per annum
Starting salary will be dependent on qualifications and experience
Working across both Glasshouse College, Stourbridge and Argent College, Jewellery Quarter, Birmingham
We are seeking to appoint a committed, enthusiastic professional to teach numeracy, literacy and communication skills to groups of students of mixed abilities, aged 16 - 24 years.
You will be responsible for the delivery of teaching and learning and supporting other tutors with the embedding of maths and English within a practical skills environment. You must be able to instil enthusiasm and enjoyment into the learning process in such a way that can lead to increased self-esteem and enhanced engagement in learning.
Applicants for this post must have experience of working with young people and vulnerable adults with special needs, challenging behaviours and mental health difficulties. You must be able to work from Entry Level up to Level 2 and GCSE in either maths, or English. You will need to hold appropriate qualifications, e.g. PGCE, or equivalent, and a minimum Level 4 subject specialism to allow you to do this. Applicants must have a professional approach, be flexible and able to work alongside students engaged in craft and land work, as well as in a classroom setting.
