Instrumentation Technician - (Network Technician)

 

Location - 1 x North East (With travel across the network)

(Can be based from Tees, North Tyne & Wear depots)

 

Salary depending upon competence level: - £31,830 to £46,125 + Overtime + Incentives + Van

(Development available for entry level instrumentation professionals)

The role of Network Technician is an essential one as you will be the first point of call for emergencies / maintenance and upgrades across the network. Your role really does make a difference to our customers and the public, as you will be responsible for ensuring emergencies and works are managed in a speedily and safe manner. Operating in the industry that we do, safety is paramount and you will make this your first priority as you quickly assess the situation and make the right decisions.

You will need to hold your HNC Instrumentation or equivalent certificate, be comfortable lone working and hold a full UK driving licence. Please remember these are partly response roles and as such will require you to work unsocial hours and weekends. Keeping this in mind, please be aware and consider the shift patterns, on call and weekend working prior to completing your application.

Characteristics of the role:

  • Lone working out of hours
  • Standby 365 days a year on a rota
  • Fault finding on Electrical systems
  • Knowledge of standby generators
  • Repair and replacement of components, fittings and fixtures
  • Completion of paperwork/systems for results and readings
  • Commissioning of equipment
  • Use of IT in the field for work reporting
  • Potential to train to restricted electrical and or Gas Quality work.

Essential:

  • Relevant electrical or Instrumentation City & Guilds or NVQ
  • Minimum HNC Level (Instrumentation)
  • Logical thinker, with excellent problem solving and analytical skills
  • Proactive attitude; strong team player, whilst also having the ability to work on their own initiative
  • The candidate should ideally have a number of year's operational or project management experience in a relevant field.
  • Knowledge of codes of practice, engineering instructions and safety requirements
  • Hold a full UK driving licence.

Desirable:

  • EUSR Gas passport
  • COMPEX EX 01,02,03,04
  • SCO 1, 2 and 4
  • 5 Years' experience on gas distribution systems
  • EL6 sign off (Authorised Person)
  • TEM 2,4

Salary / Package:

  • £31,830 to £46,125 (With training) + Overtime + On-call + Bonus
  • 41.25 hours per week on a variable work pattern including standby
  • 25 days holiday per year, plus 8 days bank holiday, plus 2 half days (Christmas Eve and New Years Eve)
  • SSP for first 7 calendar days then Occupational sick pay
  • Stakeholder 5/10 pension scheme
