Ruskin Mill Trust operates nine provisions that provide innovative and experimental education for young people and adults with special learning needs, developed out of inspiration of Rudolf Steiner, William Morris and John Ruskin.

Applications are invited for the following post that will be based within Clervaux Trust (Ruskin Mill Trust) based in Darlington

Residential Support Worker- Nights 

Grade 4:5, 40 hours per week, 52 weeks per year- the salary is £17,815- £20,934 (including a market rate supplement)

Fixed term contract for 12 months

Starting salary will be subject to qualifications and experience, there will be an additional payment of £74 for sleepovers)

An exciting opportunity has become available to join Clervaux Trust, Ruskin Mill Trust as part of a team of Residential Support Workers who support a number of adults with learning difficulties within a residential setting.

You will be part of a team of Residential Support Workers who support a number of residents with learning difficulties in a home life setting in the centre of Darlington. This role may be required to provide personal care and work alongside adults with challenging behaviours. You will have responsibility for promoting and ensuring the safety, care, well-being, learning and development of the residents, to enable their growth in confidence and social and practical skills. You will be working on a shift basis working evenings and weekends.

The key duties of this role will include:

  • The supervision and support of service users in their residential settings with a range of domestic activities such as cooking, shopping, cleaning and laundry.
  • The supervision of the service users at night, including behaviour management, medication handling and carrying out household tasks when residents are sleeping.
  • Completion of relevant paperwork is required.

    The requirements of this role are:

  • Ideally you will be an experienced support worker who has worked in a residential setting and worked with adults with challenging behaviours.
  • You will be required to provide personal care to some of our service users and as such it would be beneficial for you to have experience of this as well as medication handling experience.
  • You will have excellent communication skills, as well as experience of report writing and record keeping. You will also be expected to attend training sessions as required.
