Job Details

The Glasshouse College provides innovative and experiential education and training for young people marginalized by disadvantage, exclusion or special learning needs.  Inspired by Rudolf Steiner and John Ruskin, the College actively promotes the industrial heritage of the Black Country, craftsmanship and entrepreneurship in traditional and contemporary industry and crafts.

Tutor – Living Skills

40 hours per week for 37 weeks per year

FTE Salary £20,029.00 - £28,805.70 per annum, which will be pro rata based on 37 weeks per year

Working at Glasshouse College, Stourbridge and Argent College, Birmingham

We are seeking to appoint a committed, enthusiastic, professional to support and teach students of mixed abilities to gain the necessary skills in activities such as shopping, cooking, cleaning, financial budgeting and travel to enable independent living.

To undertake this position successfully you will ideally have:

  • Knowledge of specialist education
  • Experience of teaching learners with learning difficulties and/ or learning disabilities
  • The ability to work with a young person to enable them to develop valuable life skills to allow them to contribute positively to the community and move towards personal independence.
  • Willingness to work flexibly across both Glasshouse College in Stourbridge and our sister College in the Jewellery Quarter, Birmingham (Argent College).

You must be able to instil enthusiasm and enjoyment into the learning process in such a way that can lead to increased self-esteem and enhanced engagement in learning.
