 Ruskin Mill Trust operates nine provisions that provide innovative and experimental education for young people with special learning needs, developed out of inspiration of Rudolf Steiner, William Morris and John Ruskin.

 

 

 

Applications are invited for the following post that will be based within Brantwood Specialist School (Ruskin Mill Trust) based in Sheffield.

Residential Support Worker

Zero hour/Hourly Paid contract – there are a variable number of hours and shifts available each week. With the potential to have additional hours.

Grade 4:5, Full Time Equivalent salary is £17,815- £20,934 (including a market rate supplement)

Starting salary will be subject to qualifications and experience, there will be an additional payment of £74 for sleepovers)

An exciting opportunity has become available to join Brantwood Specialist School, Ruskin Mill Trust as part of a team of Residential Support Workers who support a number of children/young people with learning difficulties within a residential setting.  

This role may be required to provide personal care and work alongside young people with challenging behaviours. You will have responsibility for promoting and ensuring the safety, care, well-being, learning and development of the children to enable their growth in confidence and social and engage with their education. You will be working on a shift basis working evenings and weekends.

This role will include a range of duties and responsibilities such as:

  • The supervision and arrangement of social and recreational leisure activities, such as walking, cinema, household outings, visiting friends and family.
  • To provide care, guidance and work towards targets in the young person’s Educational Health and Care Plans (EHCP) and to record and report progress made.
  • Completion of relevant paperwork is required.

Although challenging, this role is incredibly rewarding. We are looking for people with great character and a desire to make a positive impact on young people’s lives.

In order to be successful in this role you will:

  • Ideally, you will be an experienced support worker who has worked in a residential setting and worked with children and young people with challenging behaviours.
  • You will may be required to provide personal care to some of our service users and as such it would be beneficial for you to have experience of this as well as medication handling experience.
  • You will have excellent communication skills, as well as experience of report writing and record keeping.

You will be fully trained in the following: safeguarding, health & safety, emotional resilience, mental health, MAPA to name a few. You will also be required to attend other key and development training sessions as required by the Trust, which may be outside of your usual working hours.
