Job Details

The Glasshouse College provides innovative and experiential education and training for young people marginalized by disadvantage, exclusion or special learning needs.  Inspired by Rudolf Steiner and John Ruskin, the College actively promotes the industrial heritage of the Black Country, craftsmanship and entrepreneurship in traditional and contemporary industry and crafts.

 

Tutor, Functional Skills

40 hours per week, 40 weeks per year

£19,733 – £29,547 pro rata, per annum

(pro-rata salary £17,312 - £25,920)

starting salary will be dependent on qualifications and experience

Based at:

Glasshouse College, Stourbridge and Argent College, Jewellery Quarter, Birmingham

We are seeking to appoint a committed, enthusiastic professional to teach numeracy, literacy and communication skills to groups of students of mixed abilities, aged 16 - 24 years.

 

You will be responsible for the delivery of teaching and learning and supporting other tutors with the embedding of maths and English within a practical skills environment. You must be able to instil enthusiasm and enjoyment into the learning process in such a way that can lead to increased self-esteem and enhanced engagement in learning.

 

Applicants for this post must have experience of working with young people and vulnerable adults with special needs, challenging behaviours and mental health difficulties and be able to work with Entry Level to Level 2 / GCSE on occasion and have appropriate qualifications to do this. Applicants must be flexible and able to work alongside students engaged in craft and land work as well as in a classroom setting.

 

Experience of teaching people with learning difficulties is desirable.

A flexible and professional approach to work is required.
