Applications are invited for the following post that will be based at the new Clervaux Garden School (Rudolf Steiner Education) within the Ruskin Mill Trust.

Craft Teacher (Textiles and Functional Skills)– Clervaux Garden School

(Rudolf Steiner Education)

40 hours per week, 40 weeks per year

Grade MS1 to MS4 (FTE £20,158 to £29,117 dependent on qualifications and experience)   

Clervaux Garden School is a new, exciting and innovative provision which will offer full time education to children from 10-16 years who have significant/complex social, emotional or educational difficulties. Clervaux Garden School benefits from being in a rural location and has home grown biodynamic and organic produce grown on the land for the school kitchen. The key duties of this role will include:

  • To develop schemes of work and lesson plans which embed Functional Skills into craft activities
  • To work closely with other Teachers and Teaching Assistants to plan craft and functional skills sessions
  • Communicate consistently and effectively with all relevant teams
  • Deliver appropriate practical skills teaching and training as part of an agreed curriculum to students
  • Ensure that the students you are responsible for are appropriately supervised
  • To plan and work in line with the Trust’s education planning cycle

The criteria required to undertake this position successfully include:

  • Qualified Teacher status
  • Experience relevant to the subject of the teaching post
  • Experience of working with young people with learning difficulties, disabilities and special needs on a regular basis.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the concept of education planning cycles
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills

 

The successful applicant will take part in an interactive induction to experience the crafts within the curriculum and experience the student journey.
