Job Details

Job Purpose

  • To build and maintain strong links between the MHPN and strategic partners to enable them to work together to improve the mental health for children, young people and adults in Sheffield.
  • To assist the Mental Health Partnership Network in its mission to support and sustain a strong mental health VCS.
  • To ensure that the MH voice is heard and its diverse perspectives are represented on a number of inter-agency forums and meetings.
  • To maximise opportunities for the MHPN to influence policy and decision makers, funders, commissioners and partner agencies.
  • To be the primary conduit for communications between commissioners, strategic partners.
  • To disseminate key information to the members of the MHPB and strategic partners.
  • To proactively seek information, evidence and data from members of the MHPB to enhance ability to fully advocate on behalf of the members.
  • To keep members informed of all and any funding and/or development opportunities.
  • To create business cases and long term strategic plans across MHPN partners to support the flow of money and other resources into the Sheffield MHPN sector.
  • To  work with the MH system to support the flow of money and other resources into Sheffield MH VCS from national and international funders.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

Work with the MHPN and its members

  • Promote and facilitate co-operation between members to:

          Increase knowledge, understanding, good practice and capacity;

          Amplify the voice and influence of members and their service users in all relevant forums to improve

          outcomes for users.

  • Meet regularly with SCC and CCG commissioning to look at emerging issues to inform commissioning activity, developing and contract managing appropriate projects, and working with strategic partners to influence policy and practice as a result.
  • Evaluate and communicate the impact and work of the members of the MHPN to strategic partners to raise awareness and understanding of its work, including how it maximises resources for the city and outcomes for users.
  • Ensure that network representatives are supported to perform their role effectively as well as ensuring that relevant information is cascaded to MHPN members.

Work to support the sector as a whole

  • Work in partnership with commissioning to look at current and future funding opportunities and the dissemination of information to the wider VCS to work collaboratively or individually on contracts.
  • Attend and contribute to the work of relevant multi-agency strategic groups, i.e. the MH and LDDB, this will include presenting wide audience and challenging system changes to include VCS offer.
  • Contribute to the development of relevant joint strategies and policies in lien with emerging local/government policies and strategies.
  • Promote the values, ethos and philosophy of Sheffield Mind and the wider VCS sector.
  • Attend regular supervision with the CEO of Sheffield Mind.
  • Undertake any other tasks that can be reasonably expected to be within the scope and spirit of the job.
