Health & Safety Coordinator, based in Gobowen, Oswestry, offering a salary of between £27,000 - £30,000 depending on experience.

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Health & Safety Coordinator to join our team. You will be responsible for the coordination of health & safety activities to ensure that our sites remain fully compliant.

The key role responsibilities of the Health & Safety Coordinator are:

  • Day to day coordination of Health & Safety activities across all our sites
  • Main point of contact for all Health & Safety related queries
  • Promote a positive Health & Safety culture and lead by example
  • Provide advice and guidance in order that all staff have the required knowledge, awareness and confidence to improve practices and conduct their activities safely
  • Design and deliver various training sessions, safety briefings and toolbox talks
  • Produce monthly reports and other forms of statistical analysis from collected safety data
  • Provide regular updates on Health & Safety activities to our Registered Managers
  • Liaise with departments and assist managers in the development and implementation of Health & Safety initiatives in their areas
  • Develop, review and implement policies, procedures and processes to meet the requirements of the HS Management System
  • Ensure appropriate workplace hazards are identified and remedial actions are implemented and coach others in hazard identification
  • Ensure accidents, incidents and near misses are reported and investigated in a timely manner
  • Support accident and incident investigations and ensure root causes, as well as effective corrective and preventive actions are identified and implemented
  • Monitor and drive completion of compliance tasks and actions
  • Assist HR in the coordination of the occupational health program
  • To work as a Duty Manager and/or Student Engagement Officer

Person Specification

  • Previous experience of working in a Health & Safety role, ideally within the care sector
  • NEBOSH or an equivalent recognised safety qualification is essential
  • Knowledge of the CQC framework would be desirable
  • Ability to inspire and influence stakeholders across the College
  • Possess a positive ‘can do’ attitude
  • Outstanding communication skills
  • Strong written and IT Skills 
  • The ability to work to deadlines and within defined standards
  • This is a varied and challenging role that requires a high level of autonomy
