Job Details

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a band 5 equivalent assistant psychologist to come and work within a new provision provided by Heath Care Group in collaboration with Meadows Care.

Heath Solo will be providing a significant number of single placement children’s homes across the north west with a view to expanding down the country over the next five years.

Heath Solo aims to deliver fully integrated therapeutic care to all it’s young people, thus creating the opportunity for the appointment of an Assistant Psychologist to support the Lead Clinical Psychologist, to set-up and deliver a therapeutic service within the Heath Solo homes.

The post is initially being offered as a 12 month fix term contract, but there may be potential to extend this contract in the future.  The position is full-time.

This is a dynamic and varied role, which includes (but is not limited to):

  • Assessment; working directly with young people and staff to gather information and taking responsibility for writing-up certain aspects of the assessment report.
  • Formulation; supporting the creation and dissemination of psychologically informed understandings of the young people we care for and their needs.  Contributing to the creating and monitoring of therapeutic care plans.
  • Intervention; working directly with young people to deliver low-level psychological interventions for example emotional regulation work, as well as working with and supporting care staff to work therapeutically with specific young people on particular issues.
  • Consultation; supporting staff through consultation meetings as well as more informally to think and work from a psychological perspective, including implementing the recommendations within the therapeutic care plans.
  • Service development and Service Evaluation; supporting and evaluating the developing needs of the service as it develops and grows.
  • Data Analysis and Collection; you will need to be competent in developing, working with and updating data bases and other innovative ways of collecting, using and integrating IT.
  • Other aspects to the role include; engaging with the young people to build positive relationships, supporting staff, helping to facilitate reflective practice, attending MDT and professionals’ meetings including team meetings, LAC reviews and  engaging in clinical supervision and peer supervision, keeping accurate and up to date notes and supporting with teaching and training.

Interested candidates should hold a good undergraduate psychology degree and have an interest in pursuing a career in psychology, or mental health.  Experience working with children and young people would be ideal or a demonstrated passion to work within this area. This is a role that demands a high degree of autonomy and candidates will therefore need to be confident and self-motivated as well as hard working, reliable, able to work under pressure, creative and enjoy a challenge.  In return you will receive regular supervision with a Clinical Psychologist, interesting and varied clinical experiences and CPD opportunities.
