Financial Controller / Director

Due to retirement of the current role holder, our client has an exciting opportunity for a commercially-minded Financial Controller to join their successful and growing team in Bradford to lead the finance operations of their IT business.

Reporting to the Managing Director, you will be fully responsible as an appointed Director, for all aspects of financial regulatory compliance, managing all accounting systems, operations and controls, and the production of periodic financial results, accounts and reports.

This is a broad role, leading a team of 13, with 3 Direct Reports. You will be hands-on, heading up day to day activities to ensure all accounting allocations are appropriately made and documented, cash management, payroll and bank reconciliation functions are performed whilst overseeing purchase and sales ledger, credit control and general office management.

The successful candidate will also be proactive in informing and contributing to decisions regarding the financial strategy and priorities of the business. Regularly reviewing and analysing  financial plans, data and budgets they will proactively manage risk, identifying cost reduction and return on investment opportunities.

To succeed in the role you must be a fully qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) with excellent working knowledge of all statutory financial regulations and processing applications with operational experience of purchase and sales ledgers, cashbook and payroll.  

You must  have a "hands on" approach with the ability to manage and provide leadership to a diverse team. You will be advanced in MS Excel, modelling and financial presentation skills. And you’ll have a critical eye for detail,  with strong focus on controls, processes and accountability and excellent analysis and problem-solving skills

Experience of working with international currencies would also be advantageous.
