Business Development Manager based London (St James Park) offering a salary of £40,000 to £45,000 (depending on skills and experience).

Benefits:

  • 25 days holiday entitlement, increasing by 1 day each year up to a maximum of 27 days plus 8 statutory bank holidays.

The role of Business Development Manager:

The British Chambers of Commerce (BCC) commercial team works closely with a wide range of commercial partners. These include major Banks, consultancy firms, providers of services to the UK SME community, major technology firms, and a range of other FTSE 100 firms.

This role will work within the BCC commercial team on a range of new business acquisition programmes to support the BCC deliver against budgetary targets as we look to further commercialise our campaigning work.

This is a key role within the BCC focused on income generation from a range of new and existing partners. Researching potential corporate sponsors and partners.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Meeting with sponsors and partners, building relationships, identifying areas for new business, pitching, making sales and closing deals.
  • Proposal writing aimed at senior stakeholders within large corporate and government departments
  • Evaluating and bringing to market new business development opportunities
  • Being the Commercial team lead on specific Campaigns within the business, linking these campaigns to commercial opportunities and secure income for them
  • Building a strong network of partners and attending relevant networking events
  • Working with Chambers of Commerce across the UK, to link BCC commercial activities with the Chambers as required
  • Adhere to company policies and procedures

Person Specification:

Sales management

  • Experience of working within a B2B environment
  • Ability to manage a sales pipeline to an agreed budget
  • Proven experience of achieving against financial targets

Sales and client relationship skills

  • Sponsorship fund raising experience
  • Strong network of commercial partners
  • Research skills to identify target partners
  • Relationship selling skills
  • Proposal writing
  • Research and insight led approach to sales
  • Ability to close deals
  • Strong ongoing client relationship skills
  • Excellent verbal and written presentation skills

Project Management

  • The ability to work as part of a team on key projects with others across the organisation
  • Experience of commercialising policy campaigns
  • Experience of working as part of a campaigning team

Stakeholder environment

  • Ability to work in a complex stakeholder environment

You will be proficient with Microsoft Office Products and will be trained on our in-house CRM system.

Computer literacy skills:

  • Microsoft proficiency: Outlook, Word, Excel, Powerpoint
  • In-house CRM system

Hours of work:

Monday to Friday, 35 hours per week, (We will consider job share working part time for this role)
