 Catering Supervisor

£17,804pa pro rata

(Annualised hours - Actual salary £14,997 pa)

‘Open Season’* 40 hours per week (Wednesday – Sunday)

‘Closed Season’* 16 hours per week over 3 days

Christmas opening 32 hours per week (for 3 weeks)

Annualised hours mean your annual salary is paid in 12 equal amounts, regardless of how many hours you work that month

Amberley Museum & Heritage Centre has been in existence for 40 years on a 36 acre site with over 40 exhibit buildings, providing hundreds of thousands of visitors with informative and inspiring experiences. The collections represent the industries of the south-east of England from 1750 to the present day and provide a lovely working environment.

Although set in the heart of the countryside, the Museum is adjacent to Amberley Station, so there is easy access to our facilities, as well as free parking in our car park.

We are looking for an outstanding individual to support the delivery of a high-quality welcome and consistent visitor experience across all our busy catering outlets.

With experience in hospitality and catering, preferably within a heritage or attraction environment, you will:

  • lead the Museum’s catering team to deliver a high quality service to our visitors
  • ensure that food preparation and café areas meet high standards of presentation and cleanliness;
  • maintain attractive catering displays, ensuring effective stock rotation and control and supporting with regular stock takes;
  • ensure compliance with all requirements in respect of Health and Safety legislation;
  • achieve the required food hygiene standards, ensuring all documentation is kept up to date
  • assist with food preparation, as required.

The successful applicant will:

  • have experience of working in a hospitality or catering environment
  • have experience of effectively leading a team
  • have excellent interpersonal skills and be able to relate well to a wide range of people
  • have experience in managing stock and stock taking
  • be self-motivated and able to use initiative
  • be able to use word processing and spreadsheet packages

*Closed season: 4th November - 19th February

Closing date is Friday 5th April 2019 at 9am.
