Exciting opportunity for an experienced full time Senior Site Chemist at Droitwich, earning between £27k - £30k per annum

Due to our continuing success, we are looking to expand and enhance our team by recruiting a Senior Site Chemist.

Key Responsibilities

  • To assist in ensuring that the operation and maintenance of the transfer station and associated equipment complies with all relevant health, safety & welfare requirements and all environmental regulations.
  • To assist in ensuring the health, safety and welfare of employees, contractors and visitors whilst they are on site or in associated areas.
  • Maintain the site in accordance with the Sector Guidance S5.06, including pre-acceptance, acceptance and storage of waste.
  • Generation and completion of legal paperwork.
  • Management of office paperwork to ensure it is completed properly and passed for invoicing in a timely manner.
  • A lead role in the assessment and routing of waste.
  • Acceptance and verification of waste on delivery.
  • Assist in in maintenance of site stock control by providing paperwork in a timely manner to the Stock Controller.
  • Assist in the provision of risk assessments & method statements where appropriate.
  • Monitoring and maintaining correct waste storage levels within the warehouses.
  • Issue Permits to Work for contractors carrying out works on site.
  • To encourage recycling and diversion of materials from landfill.
  • To improve company waste hierarchy performance.
  • ADR transport and technical support on customer sites where required.
  • To travel to other locations as dictated by company requirements.
  • To assist with processing waste materials including segregation, bulking activity and cleaning. 
  • Vehicle loading and unloading including operation of counterbalance forklifts where necessary.
  • Cover for Site Manager during periods of annual leave and similar delegating work to operators and managing their workload and output.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Minimum 4 years’ experience in the Hazardous Waste Management Sector.
  • HNC in Chemistry or higher. Related subjects (e.g. Biology or Forensics) will be considered where sufficient chemistry modules were included.
  • You will have a good standard of verbal and written communication, and be competent in Outlook, Word and Excel. Experience of directly interfacing with a client would be desirable.
  • Counterbalance FLT license.
  • WAMITAB COTC.
  • IOSH or NEBOSH safety qualification or similar desirable.
