 Biodynamic Farm Land-Worker

£16,350 - £19,443 per annum - 40 hours per week, 52 weeks per year

Starting salary will be dependent on qualifications and experience

  • 25 days’ holiday plus 8 bank holidays, rising to 30 plus 8 bank holidays with service

Vale Head Farm is a 34 acre (14ha) mixed biodynamic farm located in a picturesque area of rural South Staffs. The farm welcomes young people with special educational needs who come to learn and work in the farm and garden on a daily basis.

We are looking for a land-worker, with experience of working in either farming, estates maintenance and/or vegetable growing.  This role involves assisting the Farm Manager in maintaining and developing the buildings, livestock infrastructure, gardens and estate of the farm site to a high standard. Ideally the post holder will be confident in elements of machinery, construction and tool use, with a keen eye for quality, aesthetics and health and safety.

The role will include at times working with and supporting young people (aged 16–25yrs old) with special needs, who come to learn and work as part of their Practical Skills Therapeutic Education (PSTE) programme at Glasshouse College, Stourbridge, an independent specialist college run by Ruskin Mill Trust.

The role offers a great opportunity to the right candidate for:

  • a rural outdoor working setting with a wide diversity of colleagues offering the opportunity to work with the land holistically;
  • the chance to work with the farm leadership team to further develop the provision.
  • the opportunity to join RMT’s 2-year biodynamic training ‘growing the land, growing people’.
