Exciting new opportunity for an experienced full time Group Compliance Manager at Droitwich, with a salary of between £45k and £55k depending on experience

We are looking for an experienced Compliance Manager to ensure Chloros conducts its business in full compliance with all national and international laws and regulations that pertain to the Chemical Waste industry, as well as achieving and maintaining professional standards, accepted business practices, and internal standards. You will be responsible for enforcing regulations in all aspects and levels of business as well as provide guidance on compliance matters.

You will be responsible for preserving the company’s integrity by making sure it stays on a lawful and ethical course. You must be comfortable saying “no” when necessary and be result-oriented. You will be to take the lead in setting the tone for corporate integrity.

You will be responsible for the Compliance of the entire Chloros group, including Scotland, West Midlands and Gloucestershire Offices.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure regular health & Safety audits are carried out and actions and improvements are implemented as required.
  • Ensure that all operations are completed in accordance with current legislation, including internal requirements governed around pre-acceptance and acceptance of wastes.
  • Drive good working practices and create and maintain workable and concise procedures which improve efficiency.
  • Successfully manage and maintain the company’s Health, Safety, Quality & Environmental responsibilities.
  • Ensure supplier audits are carried out as required and information files are kept up-to-date as required.
  • Attend and partake in customer Duty of Care Audits, where required.
  • Establish and manage relationships with regulatory authorities and file appropriate compliance reports as requested.
  • Developing and overseeing control systems to prevent or deal with violations of legal guidelines and internal policies.
  • Evaluating the efficiency of controls and improve them continuously.
  • Revising procedures, reports etc. periodically to identify hidden risks or non-conformity issues
  • Conduct periodic internal reviews or audits to ensure that compliance procedures are followed.
  • Conduct or direct the internal investigation of compliance issues and identify areas which require follow-up or investigation.
  • Assess product, compliance, or operational risks and develop risk management strategies.
  • Conduct environmental audits to ensure adherence to environmental standards.
  • Evaluate testing procedures to meet the specifications of environmental monitoring programs.
  • Verify that software technology is in place to adequately provide oversight and monitoring in all required areas.
  • Serve as a confidential point of contact for employees to communicate with management, seek clarification on issues or dilemmas, or report irregularities.
  • Maintain documentation of compliance activities, such as complaints received or investigation outcomes.
  • Develop and oversee control systems to prevent or deal with violations of legal guidelines and internal policies
  • Evaluate the efficiency of controls and improve them continuously
  • Revise procedures, reports etc. periodically to identify hidden risks or non-conformity issues
  • Draft, modify and implement company policies
  • Collaborate with HR department to monitor enforcement of standards and regulations
  • Assess the business’s future ventures to identify possible compliance risks
  • Review the work of colleagues when necessary to identify compliance issues and provide advice or training
  • Keep abreast of regulatory developments within or outside of the company as well as evolving best practices in compliance control
  • Prepare reports for senior management and external regulatory bodies as appropriate

Qualifications & Skills

  • In-depth knowledge of the hazardous waste industry’s standards and regulations.
  • Proven experience as compliance manager.
  • Excellent knowledge of reporting procedures and record keeping.
  • A business acumen partnered with a dedication to legality.
  • Methodical and diligent with outstanding planning abilities.
  • An analytical mind able to “see” the complexities of procedures and regulations.
  • Excellent communication and literacy skills.
  • BSc/BA in law, finance, business administration or related field desirable.
  • Certified compliance professional such as ICA, is a plus.

Terms & Benefits

  • 40 hours per week
  • Annual holidays commence at 21 days, rising to 25 days plus bank holidays;
