Due to our success, popularity and determination to provide an outstanding service, we are now looking to increase our team with a Quality Controller, with someone that shares our passion and enthusiasm.

Job Purpose:

The client has a long history of servicing and restoring classic Mercedes-Benz models, and is now expanding the offering to include ‘modern classics’ from the German marque - cars made between ≈1980 and ≈2000.

Your role will be evaluating the accuracy and quality of work undertaken to ensure our standards are met before the car is handed back to the customer. You will inspect finished work and finished cars, and will also be performing our comprehensive Health Checks on customer cars, ideally using your experience of MOT checks.

There is no age barrier to this business. Whether you are young and enthusiastic with experience, or have a head full of grey hair earned from decades spent underneath cars of all shapes and sizes, then we would love to hear from you.

Statements of accountability:

  • Carry out quality control before vehicles are returned to the customer
  • Carry out extensive and detailed health checks producing an output report of recommendations;
  • Advise and recommend a course of action should the job card state that additional work is required in order to meet the customers desired outcome with any given vehicle
  • Carry out a road and quality control tests
  • Communicate with the workshop controller after your diagnosis has been done, explain the issues that have arisen and document your findings, testing driving the vehicle with them if necessary
  • Work with appropriate technicians while performing quality tests, consulting them if necessary
  • Report back on quality issues to the workshop controller
  • Communicate your Health Check findings to the workshop controller and estimator so they are well equipped to meet with the customer to discuss next steps and create a project scope
  • Providing guidance, second opinions and assistance with technical queries and activities to the workshop team

Knowledge and skills:

  • Hold a recognised mechanical qualification
  • Demonstrable experience assessing vehicles as part of a health check, ideally with expertise in MOT certification
  • Experience of servicing and repairing classic cars, ideally in a workshop environment
  • Genuine interest in classic cars
  • Able to work on own initiative as well as part of a team
  • Able to work under pressure and to deadlines whilst not compromising quality of work
  • Computer literate with Microsoft Office skills
  • Strong communication skills both verbally and written

What we offer:

We don't only care about classic cars, we also care about our employees, which is why we offer benefits and rewards that make us stand out from the crowd, just like our vehicles.  Below are just some of the benefits we offer:-

  • Bonus Scheme of up to 5% based on company performance;
  • Contributory Pension Scheme;
  • Staff Outings paid for by the Company;
  • Car parts discount scheme for employees and immediate family members;
  • Free on site parking;
  • Cycle to Work Scheme;
  • Increased holidays with service;
  • Company Workwear provided;
  • "Foodie Fridays"
  • Half day holiday on your birthday;
  • Time off to undertake volunteering work;
