Job Details

Support Practitioner (2-year fixed term contract working weekends and term time only). Based in Oswestry, Shropshire offering a salary of between £6,000 - £8,000 per annum.  We are looking for staff to work every weekend / every other weekend or either every Saturday or Sunday.

We currently have an exciting opportunity for Support Practitioner's to join our Care Team. You will support our students to be more independent by developing their life and personal care skills in their residences and in the community.

The key role responsibilities of the Support Practitioner are:

  • Take an active role in supporting our students to develop their personal care and daily life skills according to their agreed care plan outcomes
  • Administration of medication 
  • Support our students to use their free time appropriately promoting the Healthy College Agenda
  • Provide student support and liaise with peers about positive behaviour support
  • Provision of pastoral support to students in liaison with families and key support services
  • Active involvement, contribution and participation in the Independence provision
  • Contribute to the production of positive behaviour support plans
  • Deliver effective student support regarding behaviours of concern
  • Take on the role of keyworker  for identified students and attend/contribute to student review meetings 
  • Safeguarding awareness and promotion in all aspects of the role to promote the welfare of adults at risk

Person Specification:

  • Proven success of working within a similar role
  • Excellent organisation skills
  • Subject specific qualifications would be an advantage
  • A caring, compassionate and empathic nature
  • Outstanding communication skills with individuals/staff at all levels
  • Highly motivated individual
  • Competent in MS Office
