Financial Accountant based in Gobowen, Oswestry, Shropshire offering a salary of £35,000 per annum.

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Financial Accountant to join our Finance team. You will be required to effectively and efficiently manage the College finance and accounting functions, ensuring full  compliance with all financial regulations and policies.  This role will oversee the preparation of the monthly management accounts and forecasts along with all statutory accounting requirements.

The role of the Financial Accountant:

  • Management of the Accounts team (4 Staff)
  • Preparation of accounts including forecasts, cash flow predictions and variance reporting
  • Balance sheet nominal code reconciliations
  • Prepare annual statutory accounts in readiness for external audit
  • Ensure process for calculating College fees is accurate, timely and captures all appropriate costs
  • HMRC returns including VAT 
  • Stock control reporting
  • Project work as required
  • Promote the welfare and safeguarding of vulnerable young adults

The ideal Financial Accountant:

  • Qualified Accountant
  • Proven success of working in a similar role
  • Experience of working with the Care or Education sector
  • Outstanding communication skills
  • Man-management experience
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects
  • Ability to influence, persuade and negotiate
