From £33,222 - £49,000 pro-rata (Band 7 - 8a).

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a committed and enthusiastic Clinical/Counselling Psychologist or Psychological therapist to join our Birmingham team. The post would be suitable for newly qualified psychologists or therapists if they hold the relevant skills and experience for the role. This would also be a unique opportunity for a Band 7 applicant to undertake a preceptorship to progress into an 8a role.

Meadows Care in Birmingham provide therapeutic residential care services to young people aged between 10-18 years who cannot remain in their family homes and require specialised support. Meadows Care run small homes that replicate a family setting as much as possible, whilst providing 24 hour specialised support for the young people.

The postholder will be part of the friendly, innovative and expanding therapy team based in Birmingham who provide consultation, training and psychological support to the staff teams within the four homes across the Birmingham area, alongside assessment, formulation and intervention for the young people. Meadows Care provide integrated therapeutic services; as part of this all residential staff are trained and supported to recognise and understand young people’s backgrounds and the impact of developmental trauma, in order to provide tailored therapeutic care to meet their complex needs. The postholder will support the Birmingham therapy team to continue to drive this vision, working with the systems around young people to achieve the best possible outcomes for all.  A core part of the role is therefore systemic work and consultation for staff teams and professionals around the young person.

The successful applicant will work with considerable autonomy, whilst working alongside the Lead Clinical Psychologist and Assistant Psychologist. They will also be part of the wider multi-disciplinary Meadows Care therapy service consisting of Clinical and Counselling Psychologists, CBT practitioners, Art and Drama Therapists and Systemic Practitioners.

There will be opportunity, where appropriate, for the post holder to offer supervision to assistant psychologists and trainees. Ongoing training and professional development will be encouraged within the role to support the postholders progression within the company.

Applicants will need to be registered with the relevant professional body (e.g. HCPC) and have experience of providing psychological assessment and interventions for young people presenting with complex mental health and social care needs. A significant part of the role will involve staff consultation, therefore experience of providing consultation to individuals and teams, and conducting teaching or training is desirable. Applicants will require excellent communication skills, and the ability to adapt their communication to support relationships with young people, whilst working closely with all levels of staff from support workers to managers, senior managers and directors.

Part-time or full-time position is available, and flexible working hours can be supported.

At Meadows Care we are passionate about building a positive future for our young people, we are looking for professionals with similar values to our own to join the team.
